Free Weatherization and Energy Efficiency Programs
If you are a low income homeowner or renter, you may qualify for free weatherization
of your home or other assistance to improve your home’s energy efficiency.

Assistance in Paying your Heating and Electric Bills
The New Mexico Human Services Department with its Low Income
Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides help to
low-income New Mexican households, including disabled individuals
and senior citizens living on fixed incomes with help on
heating and cooling costs during the year.

Program
The Weatherization Assistance Program is a federal grant program administered
by the U.S. Department of Energy, and managed in New Mexico by the New Mexico
Mortgage Finance Authority through partnerships with The State of New Mexico,
community based non-profit organizations, and public utilities.
After completing an Energy Audit and a Blower Door test the Weatherization Assistance
program will provide income-qualified customers with free installation
of energy saving products that help to improve the energy efficiency
of their homes and lower their utility bills. Weatherization crews may apply
or install the following energy saving measures;
